A Difficult Update

Hi everyone,

Just two weeks ago, we had signed paperwork with a national wholesaler to get Talloes into delis and farm shops across the UK. It felt like everything was finally falling into place and now we can’t believe we’re actually writing this update.

After two intense, emotional, and hardworking years building Talloes, our manufacturer has suddenly ended our contract. Their own snack product has gone global, and they no longer have the capacity to produce small batch runs like ours. For them, it’s no longer viable but for us, it’s heartbreaking.

We’ve poured absolutely everything into Talloes. This is honestly the hardest way to end 2025 for us.

From name changes…to machinery breaking down…to testing potato varieties…to experimenting with beef-fat crisps…to trying (and failing) to find manufacturers who would work with animal fat…We’ve been through it all.

We fought for Talloes every single day. We don’t want to give up not at all. But we’re being completely honest when we say: we don’t know what our next steps are. Finding a unit and a manufacturer willing to work with chicken fat was almost impossible the first time. And to make things more difficult, the price of rendered chicken fat is set to rise by 35% in 2026, which means the business model becomes even less viable.

It feels like we’re suddenly back at square one.But the hardest part… is writing this to you the most loyal, supportive community we could ever ask for. Your messages, your repeat orders, your excitement, your belief in our product… they’ve kept us going through every setback. We honestly couldn’t have come this far without you.

We truly don’t know when (or if) we’ll be able to return. We’re trying to figure that out. We’re not giving up, but we are being real about the challenges ahead.

HELLO!

We are sisters Arita & Bleona, two health-conscious food lovers on a quest for a better crisp.

We have been seed oil free for many years, but have always missed our favourite crispy snack. We grew tired of crisps fried in industrial processed oils accompanied by long lists of nonsense ingredients. We had always loved cooking with Tallow for its health benefits and great taste! One day we thought, how about combining the two? Two weeks later we had a fridge full of tallow, a whole heap of tatoes, a slicer and a fryer and started experimenting…

That experimenting went on…and on…and on…until, Talloes was born!

With only three natural ingredients and zero seed oils we think they’re delicious. But we will let you be the judge of that!
